Transforming a idea into a business.
April 26, 2008 – 10:45 pmHey everyone!
As you may already know I’m working in a idea that I have a that I believe it can be a great web service some day in the future. Because of that I left everything I had in Brazil (good job and paycheck, family and friends) and came back to the United States, where I believe to be the best place for my startup, even though I’m still to decide which city is the best. For now, I’m in Miami Beach but I don’t see a very active startup scene around here. I’m considering moving somewhere.
So, from now on I will be working full time on my idea and I will, as any other entrepreneur would, transform it into a business. I will use this blog to talk about the development of my startup and all the aspects involved on it. By doing that I pretend to help others on the same journey and I also want to help myself and my project.
My biggest challenges
So far, the biggest challenges that I foresee are that I’m a solo founder with really basic coding skills, no networking at all here in the U.S. and, to make everything more difficult, I also have to run the startup on a very low budget.
I have no money and I do need a team to work with me, some good legal counseling since my idea might require a lot of licenses. To spice everything a little bit more I do have all the usual expenses to keep up with while working in the startup so I also need to find a way to get some income for myself without taking all of my time.
Should I trow the towel?
No, of course not. I’m in the Arena ready to fight and that is the place I belong.Yes, here you will see a lot of dust, sweat and blood. I will come short, stumble, fall and get hurt.In the end I will triumph and achieve my goals and if some day I realize that failed I expect this blog to show that at least I failed while daring greatly.
What’s next?
In my next post I will talk about how do I pretend to start searching for a team to develop my product. As a business man I feel that I need to have all the numbers of startup. Knowing how much everything will cost - yes, I know, it will be a estimative, a plan - will give me the opportunity to set milestones and that is the first step to start working.
I always hope to hear back from you guys and I would like to get as many help as possible and also meet as many people I can. I do believe that this is one of my responsibilities as a founder.
